Still ambivalent about this. The printed format works for me because I enjoy the movement of the eye across the page. This kinda feels like a poorly animated cartoon.

A poorly animated cartoon with bad voice acting. In no way equal to, much less better than, a comic.

my take on this was as an opportunity to reach new audiences in new ways, rather than as a substitute for the print comic format. some people will clearly not respond well, but it may provide a new avenue of discovery and fandom.

I wrote on motion comics for Guttergeek ( http://is.gd/3MSuK ) in '08 and agreed with you: it's an exciting new media form currently trying to sort out what works and what doesn't. It's interesting to see how Marvel is now paying more attention to lip syncing, head movement and so on here, which feels more like traditional animation and less like the "cut-out" type of animation that was being tinkered with last year. What I'm *really* curious about is how motion comics will evolve once Microsoft and Apple release their tablet computers on the market – many folks are arguing that a full-color touchscreen e-reader bigger than an iPhone but smaller than a Kindle DX will be the killer app for e-comics, which I think will either signal a new thrust of development for motion comics or their death knell.
