Maybe this shouldn't shock me, but it does

"To repeat: we welcome your comments, but please don't post using an altered version of any of our logos as your profile pic - they will be deleted."

This shows such a lack of even the most basic understanding of the dynamics of social spaces, it's hard to believe.

I understand that brands are adapting at the pace imposed by their existing infrastructure. It's hard to make change, but...

Also loved their comment in their side box... "Social media: as you can see we're learning as we go. Thanks for the comments." Haha. Strategy, anyone?

I have to say that me writing Douchetard totally requires a namecheck to George Parker of AdScam fame. It was his douchenozzle that gave the me doucheperation if you will.

I'm seriously still waiting for the ball to drop and for someone from Nestle to turn around and say "This was a trick!".

I'd like to know where JWT, Ogilvy and Mather, Publicis and Nielsen are in this mess. What are they being paid each month? TO DO WHAT?!?

Anyway, viva le douchetard and viva l'Internet

Missing half of the argument by not addressing the fact that Greenpeace hijacked their page and posted in appropriate videos. I think they are addressing the issues of fans posing as fans to stage objecting to brands.

This story was one of my favorite parts of today. My second favorite part was hearing about the MOSTAWESOMETHINGEVER.com. Can't wait for it to launch. I feel strongly about what's awesome. For example, there's a page in my book, or portfolio if you will, on Internet memes of the past and my predictions for the future. Check it out at thedamnham.tumblr.com or in my book at issuu.com/kellymertesdorf. Thanks so much for your time today! It was awesome to hear your perspective on running an agency, working with clients and what keeps Big Spaceship fresh to def.
